Digital Communications
Overview
Digital Communications (located in room A105) is a project based course where the students are exposed to a number of different technologies and websites. Throughout this course, the students will work on a variety of projects both individually and collaboratively in order to enhance their computer and internet knowledge. At the end of the semester, students will have learned about digital citizenship, built a website, investigated careers, and entrepreneurship!
In an effort to be truly digital, our class will use the technology in our room and online to correspond, present, turn in projects, demonstrate skills, etc. Everything that we do in my classroom is online. Please make sure that you have a fully charged chromebook every day!

Grading Policy
I follow the CPMS grading scale and policy where 90% of the digital communication's grade is from assessments and 10% is from homework/practice/participation.
Rules/Procedures
The students and I adhere to the CPMS student handbook regarding attendance, tardies, cheating, technology usage, cell phone usage, etc. I do have a few additional procedures/rules we follow in the classroom and will go over with your child on the first few days of school.
Students will bring home a syllabus with information about Essential Learnings, grading policy, rules and regulations for my classroom. You can also click here to read it.

State Standards
I utilize the Indiana State Standards for Middle School Business and Information Technology. The DOE states that, "Technology proficiency is critical if students are to be prepared to access, analyze, interpret, synthesize, apply, and communicate information. Students need to understand and experience technology as a tool in solving problems, increasing productivity, and improving the quality of life. Not only do students need to be knowledgeable with regard to hardware and productivity software, but also they need to learn to be ethical, responsible, effective, and efficient users of technology." It is my goal to demonstrate these standards to the students using the various projects I have planned for the course. Please click here to see the complete list of state standards.
